Spiral Express Term 3 2016

Term 3 has arrived in what appears to be a combination of season’s winter with cold cold days, lots of rain and spring bulbs are flowering in the garden. Children have been enjoying the many puddles that are in our garden so please ensure you pack plenty of wet weather gear; gumboots are preferred foot wear for outside and slippers for indoors. The teacher’s first job upon arriving in the morning is to light the fire so the children are greeted with a roaring fire and cosy home like environment. We are getting low on firewood so if anyone has some to spare any donations are greatly appreciated.

Piri has resigned from the position of Teacher Release so will no longer be with us on a Wednesday. She will continue to co- ordinate playgroup on a Tuesday morning. If you know of anyone with a little one send them along to playgroup.

A big welcome to Delphi, Rocky, Zyress, Tawhiti, River and their families.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to deliver flyers your help is very much appreciated; there are still flyers available for those of you that wish to help but haven’t been able until now. We have had a number of new enrolments but still need more to put us back in a strong financial state.

FRUIT Our fruit box isn’t lasting the week as we provide a serving 4 times a day, more if needed. To help and avoid us rushing to the shop we are asking for a daily piece of fruit per child. If it is easier you can bring a bag full weekly or give a gold coin donation for each day.

NEEDLE FELTING Thursday 1st September. Join us for a needle felting evening. We will cover the basics of needle felting and get you started on making your own felted doll. A cost of $10 to will cover the cost materials.

FAIR We are once again holding a fair and this time it will be held in November. This is a big event and a great fund raiser for the kindergarten. Every family is expected to help in the organisation and on the day. So put your thinking caps on for ideas and ways that you can participate. A planning meeting will be held in the next few weeks. I will let you know when the date is set.

KINDERGARTEN HOURS. Karolyn and I have a number of choirs to do before and after session. Please remember that our drop off time is 8.45am and collection at 2.45pm. There is daily cleaning and often meetings before we can think of heading home so like to get onto things quickly.

ENVIROSCHOOL We are excited to have been accepted as an Enviroschool. This is recognition of our sustainable practises and will provide us with support to improve and extend already existing practises. Often workshops are held and anyone interested will have the opportunity to attend.
